What we do
A small local company providing domestic EPC’s (Energy Performance Certificates) and Floor plans in Canterbury and throughout East Kent including Faversham, Sittingbourne and Whitstable directly to Home owners, Landlords and Industry professionals.
Energy Performance Certificates
If you intend to sell or rent out a property it is a legal requirement to have a Energy Performance Certificate before marketing commences. The certificate is valid for 10 years so it’s a good idea to check if the property already has one by going to the national register www.epcregister.com. If improvements have been made to the property perhaps a new boiler, windows or insulation it would be a good idea to have a new certificate to reflect the changes. If selling, many people leave the EPC to their estate agent to arrange but this is generally more expensive, you will find it cheaper and quicker to go directly to the domestic energy assessor.
Minimum energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)
From April 2020 all new leases and renewal of existing leases can only be undertaken if the property reaches the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) which is a rating of at least E (38).
Properties below this level cannot be rented out until it is brought up to or above the minimum standard. There are some exceptions and to find out what they are and also more information you can click the link to see the government guide. “The domestic Private Rented Property Minimum Standard”
